I fell in love with electronic dance music when I was ten years old. I listened to DJ mixes on the radio religiously. It was magic, the way two songs seamlessly transitioned and interwove into each other. Back in 1985, I thought it was a global phenomenon. In reality, I was tapping into a small, passionate community creating something brand new. This new genre was called house music, created right here in Chicago. Thousands of Chi-town kids did not realize we were hearing it before the rest of the world even knew it existed.
