About
I fell in love with electronic dance music when I discovered it at ten years old. I'd listen to DJ mixes on the radio religiously. It was magic, the way two songs seamlessly transitioned and interwove into each other. Back then, 1988 to be precise, I thought this was a global genre. Really, I was tapping into a small community of passionate people who made it feel grander than it was. This new genre was called house music, created right here in Chicago. Thousands of Chi-town kids didn't realize we were the first to hear this music before the world even knew it existed.
We didn't know we were early. We just knew we were home.
That's what NINTH HOUSE is built on. Not nostalgia, not a costume. Thirty five plus years in the scene: behind the decks, behind the counter at a legendary Chicago record shop, running lights and visuals for nights that never made it into any history book but ours.
This isn't streetwear made by someone gesturing at a culture from the outside. Every design carries a real reference, a real story, an inside joke you'll either get immediately or not at all. That's the whole point.
The underground has always had its own language, its own signals. The kind of thing that looks cool to outsiders who have no idea what it actually means, and means everything to the ones who do.
This is for the ones who found their people on a dance floor, at a festival, in a warehouse, at 3am somewhere they weren't supposed to be, or just at home with the volume up and nowhere to be. If that's you, you already know. If it's not you yet, stick around. It might be.
